Originally conceived in 1984 and reborn under the astute stewardship of Creative Director James Nicholls in the early 00s, Fire Records recently celebrated its 40th anniversary in style with a full day of music at a sold out event at the EartH.
Fire Records launches a partnership with Signature Brew to produce a collaborative beer (‘Fire Water’) and to host a series of exclusive live performances and signings of legendary acts; entitled ‘Signature Sessions’.
Signature Sessions will be held at Signature Brew’s Haggerston Venue, where a carefully curated selection of artists will perform special sets, alongside record signings and exclusive merchandise drops. The sessions launch with the first pour of ‘Fire Water’, a crisp new lager, on Record Store Day 2025 (Saturday April 12) and will be hosted by writer and comedian Stewart Lee, who declared Fire as “one of the last great indie labels”.
Deluxe 2xLP clothbound sleeve edition of ‘Car Button Cloth’, featuring Lemonheads classics ‘If I Could Talk I’d Tell You’ and ‘The Outdoor Type’. This reissue includes the original record alongside a whole extra LP of rarities and unreleased cuts, continuing Fire Records in-depth series of reissues from the legendary band.

The whim-induced Giant Syndicate, a band led by legendary Fire Records Alumni Howe Gelb (Giant Sand), Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses) and Steve Wynn (The Dream Syndicate), tore down the legendary theatre in Hackney to celebrate 40 years of Fire Records, and bring down the curtain on a 10 hour, multi-act, psychedelic extravaganza, hosted by Stewart Lee and curated by the label boss James Nicholls.
The extraordinary story of independent music pioneers The Bevis Frond, told over the course of a single semi-fictional day in the life of songwriter Nick Saloman, and how he achieved his goal of never having to get a regular job.
